One of the most important representatives of deconstructivism in fashion. Yamamoto expresses in his clothes a combination of Japanese principles of Wabi Sabi and Western forms, creating models that are strikingly different from modern fashion trends. Clothing from Yamamoto is often closed, loose-fitting, as opposed to the tightly-naked “canon” of modern fashion. The designer’s clothes were compared with the clothes of a peasant, nomad or beggar. This is facilitated by both free cut and rough fabrics without ornaments. Yamamoto\'s favorite color is black. The Yamamoto brand became widely known both in Japan and abroad in the 80s of the XX century. Youji Yamamoto created costumes for the film \"Dolls\" by Takeshi Kitano (which made the director change the character of the film and partially the plot) and for some films by Akira Kurosawa. In an interview with the New York Times in 1983, Yamamoto said about his projects: “I think that my men\'s clothing looks as good on women as women\'s clothing [...] When I started designing, I wanted to make men\'s clothing for women \"[5]. In 2019, he explained: “When I started making clothes for my Y line in 1977, all I wanted was for women to wear men\'s clothes. I liked the idea of creating a coat for women. There was a deep meaning for me there - the idea that the coat should protect and hide the female body.
