'Dieter and Stephanie van der Bergh both completed their honours in fashion and established their fashion label \"Silverspoon\" in 2008. From humble beginnings of a two door garage, the label has grown to a team of 12 which supplies 35 stores nationally. Stephanie\'s vision has always been to develop the fashion industry in Port Elizabeth, that is when she came up with the idea of a high end fashion and craft workshop. This aspiration was made possible through the Nelson Mandela Bay Development Agency. The workshop which is running until the 27th at the Anthenauem gives 20 Eastern Cape crafters the opportunity to produce a product with the mentoring and guidance from well established designers. Locally based designers are also invited to sit in on the workshops to share in this experience. We speak to Stephanie to discuss the reasoning behind the event as well as her aspirations for Port Elizabeth creatives. The theme for the week is urban rejuvenation and participants are challenged to look at the possibilities of incorporating the craft into their products. We chat to designers involved about their experience concerning the exchange of knowledge and skills through the programme. The end products from the project will be displayed in a buyers lounge along with other locally made products. This allows for networking possibilities, enhancemant of skills and opportunities for exposure.'
