'(2 Apr 2017) DAY TWO OF CATWALK COVERAGE OF PAKISTAN\'S BRIDAL COUTURE EVENT Designers Fahad Hussayn and Uzma Babar evoked Mughal grandeur with their collections as designers showcased their men\'s and women\'s wear on day two of the 3-day Bridal Couture Week in Karachi on Saturday (1APR2017). Hussayn, an established designer with a taste for history and heritage, fused traditional elements and a diverse spectrum of colors to create a memorable collection called \'Dara Shikoh Aur Sunehri Churail.\' \"The inspiration behind the collection is mostly a story I wrote which is driven out of history about the Mughal prince Dara Shikoh. We are also playing a lot with the notions of beauty in the subcontinent and how women perceive other women. So it\'s an interesting amalgamation of observations and history books\" Hussayn said. \"The color palette is very vibrant. It is driven from Dara Shikoh\'s miniatures of his wedding. He had the most expensive recorded wedding in Mughal history\" added the deisgner. Uzma Babar also opted for the vintage and grand look of Mughal-era attire in her collection, titled \'Forever.\' \"The embellishments we have used are traditional embroidery methods including haath kee marori, kora, dabka, -- the things that a bride would typically want in her dress are the embellishments we have gone with. The fabric that we used includes Mysori, chiffons, crepes, georgettes, beautiful ghararas and lenghas (silhouetted, traditional blouses),\" Babar said about the intricate craftsmanship of her collection. Chinese-Canadian actor Kent S. Leung, who recently featured in a Pakistani movie, was the main celebrity among the show-stoppers who adorned Babar\'s outfits. \"Once I put it on, I felt like it changed me. I felt cool wearing it. And I would totally wear that dress on my wedding day,\" Leung said about the experience. British-based designer Faika Karim showcased her bridal collection titled \'Noorie.\' \"When you have a lot of celebrities at Bridal weeks, you sometimes forget the collections,\" said fashion journalist Zurrain Imam on the trend of getting actors on the ramp. He added that Uzma Babar\'s collection managed to get the attention despite the show-stoppers. \"But she showed quite a strong collection, very traditional, sort of very traditional silhouettes, very traditional reshum, zardozi, beadwork, lots of sparkle; and there was a live singer, apparently, who sang, so it was interesting\" added the critic. Sibling duo of Ayesha & Usman Qadir, and Mansoor Akram also showcased their collections on day 2. Bridal Couture Week 2017 ends on Sunday, April 2.
