'(10 Apr 2016) PAKISTAN FASHION HITS THE FINAL DAY Shamaeel Ansari provided a fitting end to Karachi\'s biggest fashion extravaganza with her collection showcasing on the third and final day of the three-day \'Fashion Pakistan Week Spring/Summer 2016.\' Easily one of the most awaited events of Pakistan\'s fashion calendar, the Pakistan Fashion Council organized event lived up to its reputation of setting the benchmark for high fashion. Over two dozen designers unveiled their latest spring/summer collections over the last three days, including young and upcoming designers. But the third and final day was all about Shamaeel Ansari, one of the biggest names in Pakistan\'s fashion industry. Known as Pakistan\'s \'Czarina of style\', she delighted everyone with her latest offering. \"This time we have used a lot of porous fabric, diaphanous fabric that shadows a lot of the solid weaves. So there is structure, and yet there is an element of a very loose feel as well. It\'s very feminine, yet it has an element of power in it, which is very, very much what I like to keep in my clothing. I like people to turn around and say: \'Wow, that\'s a Shamaeel.\' I think that\'s being art in design, and our clothing line is very much about that,\" said Ansari. Zainab Chottani\'s collection also generated a lot of praise with her trendy, uptown chic collection. \"Since it was known as \'Club Cobalt,\' the collection\'s name was that, so obviously it was all shades of blues. And the collection was inspired by the skyline of…basically it was inspired by high-street fashion in New York. And we tried to fuse it with our Eastern cuts as well. So we did like Denim shalwars, Denim dhoti shalwars, then we did Denim capes. And it was all very summery. It wasn\'t a thick fabric of Denim. It was all very tensil, which is a very summery, flow-y fabric,\" said Chottani. Natasha Kamal created a stir with her \'Luxxotica\' collection. Designed for the summer, with soft, earthy tones, it also has oodles of sixties style from the flared trousers to chic head wraps and sunglasses. The color palette was vibrant, ranging from rich spices to soft pastels, while the sumptuous georgettes and chiffons fabrics gave it a solid base. This explosion of luxury prêt on the ramp delighted fashionistas, socialites and connoisseurs of high-street fashion. However, one of the country\'s most renowned fashion critics, who is currently the editor of the fashion section of a leading daily, Aamna Haider Isani felt that Pakistan fashion needed to be more inclusive. \"We have to bring less and less elite fashion into fashion weeks and show more and more awaami (everyday; for the common-man) fashion; that is modest, that is fashion-forward and that can be adapted by people on the high-street,\" said Isani. Anam Mansuri, editor of \'Women\'s Own\' magazine felt the collections were forced to be unique because of social media. According to her, the Instagram phenomenon means that designers can no longer copy designs and get away with it, as would happen in the past. This, she added, was another reason why designers had started exploring their own roots instead of aping Western designers, and called it one of the best developments in the fashion industry. This originality and innovation was a major feature of young Aamna Aqeel\'s collection, with her signature jackets, jump-suits, dhotis embellished with elaborate decorations including intricate handiwork. Naqshi, diamantes, nalki, and beautifully weaved fringes, all regional styles, added to her collections panache.
