But recent years has seen a rise in collections from the Land of the Rising Sun as more and more Japanese designers become fashionable. And it\'s a case of East meets West on the Paris catwalks as designers show off their 1996 Spring collections. Hermes presented its new Spring collection at Le Carrousel du Louvre in Paris Saturday. The choice offered by the design house was endless - from evening wear to swimwear, from brightly coloured to simple in black or white. With its focus on elegance, the Hermes collection still proved popular. But traditional designers, like Hermes, have been coming under pressure from the East. More and more Japanese designers are making it to the Paris catwalks - their creations a success with fashion aficionados. One of the rising stars is fashion designer Hanae Mori. The president of Mori France says Japanese designs are popular because they offer people who want to look different a wide variety to choose from. SOUNDBITE: \"Customers in general are looking for something different.
