'October 6th 2007 at 5:30 PM - Hermes Spring-Summer 2008 Ready-to-Wear Runway Show at the Jardins du Louvre, Place du Carrousel, Paris 1er. I was able to spend some face-to-face time interviewing Jean-Paul Gaultier, the creative director of Hermès for the past 4 successful seasons. Jean-Paul Gaultier gave a fresh breath of air to Hermes tradition by integrating a multicultural theme into this upcoming collection. As we spoke, he explained his new take: \"the inspiration went from India to London\" Beyond the cliché Hermès Birkin & Kelly-only references, Jean Paul Gaultier is faithfull to his JPG style. With a flair for overturning the norm, we were all delighted by the exoticism as the first model strut the runway, with Mariacarla Boscono (VIVA) opening the show wearing a gold turban matching her \"drape\" silhouette. The colection also features a white Nehru jacket worn over jodhpurs with riding boots but the boots were in croc! Only JPG can bring together the enthralling exotic stylistic spices of the East and mesh them with the Western traditional, marrying Hermès historical equestrian roots with the delightfully unknown. http://www.karenkooper.com Karen Kooper.com'
