Designer Kevan Hall on catwalk KEVAN HALL SHOWS SAFARI INSPIRED COLLECTION, TO INSPIRE SUPPORT FOR AFRICAN CHARITIES Award winning fashion designer Kevan Hall used safari as the theme for his Spring 2008 collection, unveiled in Los Angeles Monday (15OCT07). The show is a \"call to action\" designed to motivate and inspire others to support African related charities. \"The inspiration for this collection was Africa,\" Hall explained. \"I looked at the beautiful people there, the artwork, the gorgeous embroideries, the beading, and also the beautiful land. The sunsets and the colours. We took the beading like from the Dinka and from the Masai Tribes and took that and just turned it into beautiful chiffons and crepes and satins and that kind of thing. Then those gorgeous warm earth colours that are there.\" Fabrics took centre stage in the use of mud cloth, painted twill, printed chiffons and crushed organza. Hall\'s signature flowing dresses came in cheetah, black and multi-coloured prints this time around. Some of the most recognisable women who have worn Kevan Hall on the red carpet are Charlize Theron, Felicity Huffman, Vanessa Williams, Katherine Heigl, Angela Bassett, Debra Messing, Renee Zellweger, Sharon Stone, Virginia Madsen and First Lady of California, Maria Shriver. However, Hall insists he is not limited to catering for Hollywood\'s female stars. \"I feel like the Kevan Hall woman is a very modern woman like yourself. She\'s well read, she\'s travelling, she knows what is going on in fashion. She is very astute in her taste. It\'s a woman that is in age 20-70 but who has a great taste level and a full sense of style.\" This year Kevan Hall decided to try a different approach to the usual gift bag found on top of the first and second row seats. Hall teamed up with a celebrity gift bag service, to create five luxury gift bags each worth over $13,000.00 (US Dollars) to be auctioned off to the benefit the African Millennium Foundation (AMF). Following the show, beginning on Oct. 22 one bag a week will be auctioned off for five weeks on charityfolks.com.
